It’s Our Anniversary!

A Message from Jemar T. Ward, NYULYP President

Today, April 1, 2013 marks the 10 year anniversary of the inception of the New York Urban League Young Professionals! For 10 years, NYULYP has been serving the community in various capacities and simultaneously building leaders.

The NYULYP would not have survived without the support of its membership and supporters and for that, I thank you. I have been a member for 7 years and have seen our membership outgrow our original meeting space at the National Urban League’s headquarters. Our diligent work has lead us to become the Eastern Region Chapter of Excellence in 2007 and National Chapter of Excellence in 2008 and 2011. We have supported our affiliate, the New York Urban League, with their many educational and employment initiatives such as the HBCU Fair and their Girls and Young Men’s Empowerment Days. We have also provided tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships for high school seniors.

Upcoming events this month include our Starting Your Own Business Forum which includes an Elevator Pitch competition, and a Final Four Viewing Party. In addition to raising money for scholarships, we will officially celebrate our anniversary at this year’s REBIRTH! 2013 with an open bar featuring Möet Hennessy cocktails. I hope that you all can join us! Tickets can be purchased at yprebirth2013.eventbrite.com. NYULYP members, you have received your invitations via email.

Here’s to 10 more years in the movement! It’s an exciting time to be a member, if you’re not in your league, join us!

Happy Anniversary!!!

Jemar T. Ward | NYULYP President
