YP Member of the Month: Zakiya Nashid

Congratulations to Zakiya for her service within the Membership Committee the NYULYP is proud to name her Member of the the Month for January 2014.

About Zakiya:Zakiya is a graduate of Delaware State University , where she majored in Business management with a concentration in HR . Originally from New Rochelle, NY where she actively give back to my community by helping  coach the New Rochelle high school cheerleading team and by providing employment help and resume building advice to individuals. She currently works at Pitney Bowes in Stamford, CT In the recruiting department and attending Manhattanville college majoring in organizational development and HR. Her goal is to obtain as much knowledge as she can to help advise individuals on the most effective ways to become employed and remain employed. This is a true passion of hers, to help people who look like her get to the level we all deserve.

In joining this organization I had no idea this would turn into a family.  This organization is full of individuals that have embraced me and treated me as if they have known me for years. The knowledge and passion each person brings to this organization is amazing. We all come from different areas and have different backgrounds but come together for one cause and I am honored to be a part.”

About NYULYPNYULYP is a unique entity of the NYUL designed to serve as an empowerment forum for individuals ages 21-40 that live and work throughout the five boroughs of New York City. The organization trains, develops and educates young professionals to take leadership roles within the National Urban League (NUL), the civil rights movement and society-at-large.

Membership Criteria:
  • Be between the ages of 21-40
  • Pay annual membership dues ($75)
