Here are our Members of the Month for August/September 2014!
Soma Majumder first heard about the New York Urban League from her mentor Naomi Campbell, a PR representative from State Farm. She fell in love with the organization from the very first event she attended because NYULYP’s service had a truly positive impact on the community.
Soma graduated from Stony Brook University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science. She is passionate about graphic design and illustration so she went back to design school and attended Shillington School for Graphic Design. Soma’s love for community service and giving back stems from her involvement with the Stony Brook University Community Service Club. Soma is also part of Epsilon Sigma Phi Multicultural Sorority and New York Women in Communications.
Soma joined NYULYP in April 2013 and is involved with the Communications, Community Service, Membership, and Civics and Econ Committees. In her spare time she enjoys taking walks in the park, yoga, biking, painting, and reading fantasy novels.
Krystle G. Wright has been a member of the New York Urban League Young Professionals for almost 3 years and has served on the Membership Committee (Tech Sub Committee Lead, Ambassadors SubCommittee, Events Subcommittee, Hospitality SubCommittee). Krystle also serves as a member of the National Urban League’s Policies & Procedures Committee for 2014-2015.
Outside of YP, Krystle is President & Founder of the Jamaican Heritage Society and an active member of women-focused organizations such as the Levo League, Girl DevelopIT, the Ellevate Network (formerly 85 Broads), UN Women, LadyDrinks, the Womensphere Global Network and the Penn Clubs of Metro NJ, NYC and North Carolina.
